He previously headed the Resolution and Crisis management teams and was responsible for the Financial Services Action Plan. Before joining the European Commission in 1987, Patrick Pearson worked for the legal service and the foreign financial market affairs divisions in Dutch Finance Ministry in The Hague. He has a law degree from Leiden University in the Netherlands
